Web Accessibility

We believe that permaculture and knowledge should be accessible to everyone, without barriers. We work to ensure our website meets accessibility standards and is usable by the widest possible audience.

Our commitment

Ecohuerto Salduie is committed to ensuring the accessibility of its website in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. We regularly review the site to identify and fix access barriers.

Implemented measures

To make our content accessible, we apply the following practices:

  • Semantic HTML: we use tags such as main, nav, article and section so screen readers correctly interpret the structure.
  • aria-label attributes and ARIA roles on interactive elements and key sections.
  • Full keyboard navigation: all links, buttons and forms are accessible without a mouse.
  • Color contrast: text meets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against the background.
  • Alternative text on all informative images via descriptive alt attributes.
  • Respectful animations: we honour the operating system's prefers-reduced-motion setting for users with motion sensitivity.
  • RTL (right-to-left) support: the site automatically adapts text direction and layout for Arabic using dir="rtl".
  • Skip-to-content link: all pages include a hidden skip-link that allows keyboard users to jump directly to the main content.
  • Nine available languages: content is translated into Spanish, English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic, with hreflang tags for search engines.
  • Automated testing with pa11y: we run periodic accessibility audits using the pa11y tool to proactively detect and fix barriers.

Standards and compliance

We follow WCAG 2.2 level AA as a reference. Although we strive to meet these standards, accessibility is an ongoing process. If you encounter any barrier, we appreciate you letting us know.
